Hallet Wind Farm

On 6th October 2013 we went for our usual ride to the take-away in Jamestown for lunch. While there we also visit the supermarket as well before going for lunch.

Our route http://goo.gl/maps/rswUR with stops marked for the take-away, where we took the generator pics and Hallet where we turned for our way back home.

This is the café located on the main street

After lunch we took the longer way home via Hallet and this time I had our older digital cam so I could get some photos as along this road we can get close enough to a couple of generators to do so. The only issue I had was with this little cam is that on a sunny day its very hard to see what's on the view screen so most of the shots were guessing and hoping I got something.

I was lucky with this one and the whole generator in one shot. Also close enough to hear the sound of the wind as the blades spin. We need to make another trip and get it on video as well.

The next shot shows the bike in front of the above picture. It wasn't until I got home that I didn't get the whole scene in.

To the left of where we stopped you can see a few for more generators. The wind farm is on both sides of the road and it's a safe bet to  say the land is still being farmed around them and there's sheep grazing as well.

This a better shot of the dam and the sheep seen the above picture. It's also spring here and it's still green from the winter rainfall but it won't be long and it'll dry off.

So that's our little ride of about 140 kms (96 miles)

Jamestown Lunch Ride

I normally wouldn't put this little 40 km ride in as we do it at least once every two weeks.

About 11:30 this morning we decided to go to the supermarket at Jamestown and also stop off at the cafe for a bite to eat before heading back home but we had to get fuel before we went.

Just as we were about to turn into the servo I noticed a group of bikes with sidecars fueling up. Most were ready to get on their way and some leaving so I grabbed a couple shots of the remaining  few.

All but the blue one in the pics were still there as we left. All were Urals as it turns out.

Half an later we're at the Jamestown supermarket then down to the cafe. I took this photo while sitting on a seat across the road. Just after this an older guy asked us about the bike etc. We mentioned a few things about the bike, towing the trailer and our club.

On the way back and about 10 kms to go two bikes passed us in the little town of Yongala (coldest place in SA, usually). Both were Hondas, not sure of the first one except that it was all red. The second one looked like the one of the newer VFRs but not sure what size.

28th April 2013, Bundaleer Forest, South Australia

It a nice sunny day (third one in a row) so we went for a ride to Bundaleer State Forest this afternoon and stopped off for lunch at the take away in Jamestown which is 40 kilometres from home in Peterborough.

We normally go to the take away every two weeks on a Sunday for lunch and then call into the supermarket on the way back home.

Route Map

Our Honda ST1100A parked across the road from the take away.

Heather went for a short walk to check out some shops and found a pole to lean on.

A shot of the picnic area with the bike just visible in the centre of the picture.

Part of the walk that we followed.

I saw some of the bike. From where this taken there's a creek (no water) behind the bike but you can't see it.

This log looks like it has been placed so it could be walked on to cross the creek. Not sure of the length but 10 metres is a good estimate and 2 metres to the creek bed under the log.

Further up the path from the log location.

A Cadillac that was parked a little way up from our table. In 1978 I  nearly bought an earlier one of these as everyone was getting rid of the big cars during the oil crisis back then.

Heather took one of the bike and me. I'm amazed that the camera still works when ever I get my photo taken. Also this is the first time in seven years we have actually used the helmet holders on the bike. We would either carry them or put them in the side cases.

This was our third visit to the forest. Last year I took these of a few metal sculptures which are on a another walk in the forest.

They even have a swing on a metal sculpture of a tree though not suitable for use. Typical style of swing some would have had in their back yard in years gone by.
